In response to your last question on abortion... When, in your opinion, does life begin? I personally am against abortion for myself, but I don't believe I have the right to tell others they can't get one because I believe it's a living organism. I'm also a free-thinking moderate raised Catholic. I learned both sides of the issue. It still doesn't make it easy. But the line of life is what it comes down to. How are the cells in my body alive, but the cells forming a fetus are not? I'm all for a woman's right to choose. It is her body, after all. But I wish it wouldn't be sugar-coated. It is stopping a life from developing further. I think only "wanted" fetuses are considered alive, rather than to be terminated fetuses. Furthermore, why is it when a pregnant woman is killed, it's considered a double homicide?

Well, I didn’t create the laws, so I can’t answer why killing a pregnant women is double homicide. I think it might stem from the notion that all pregnant women are “delicate.” Apparently the ruling is pretty rare, but that information is from Wikipedia, so you never know.

I can understand your opinion that only “wanted” fetuses are considered alive. After all, abortions are for unwanted pregnancies, so that statement makes sense.

Here’s my defense of the living cells argument. The living cells in our body aren’t living people, and neither is a fetus. I also think this argument is a bit of a stretch and not exactly relevant. To me, it’s like saying removing a kidney for transplant is murder since it’s a “living” part of the human body.

I appreciate your wanting to understand the other side. I hope my two cents helps you interpret where I stand.
