Sometimes I get asked what started my interest in spreading the sex-ed gospel. You could say this book is partially to blame. My hippy dippy parents didn’t bother with lies about the stork and cabbage patch. Instead, they had Joanna Cole’s How You Were Born sitting on the bookshelf for as long as I can remember. I’ll never forget the full-color photo of a woman in labor with the baby’s head sticking out of the vagina.
So yes, I do blame my parents for my obsession.
I’m definitely going to be a mama activist when / if I become one. I’ll be a sex-ed activist anyhow.
